Suzy to Laon

Walking in the woods

A good night's sleep and a lazy start. We had breakfast at the bar, charged phones and did some washing.

Having said goodbye to the dog in charge, we set off at lunchtime to finish the short distance to Laon.

It was a lovely walk. The route was mostly through woodland so we had a canopy of trees.

As we neared Laon the countryside opened out and you could see Laon sitting on a hilltop.

In places where we had to walk across fields it was very hot and Mary Poppins appeared.

As you enter Laon you pass through a dense wood. You can see a clearing ahead and sense what is coming.

There was a grass-track race circuit nearby which gave the cemetery a strange soundtrack.

Camping La Chennaie

This is a huge site with not many guests. It should be quiet, but the facilities are minimal.

Delivery pizzas for supper.
