Bagno Vignoni.

Today is the last 30km plus day of the Via and throws in a big climb to end the day.
We were on the road by 9 and had a forgettable coffee in San Quirico. It was a sunny morning with good views of the valley that we would follow all day.
Today's date: 8.10.20
Weather: sunny
Steps: 42,138
Distance: 31.8 km
Climbing: 983 m
After about an hour we arrived at Bagno Vignoni which is just splendid. There is a large thermal bath in the centre of the village. Bathing is not allowed, but someone was in the bath setting up an art installation.
We grabbed a second breakfast before walking to the public pool which was not very thermal.
The road south was closed for roadworks. The absence of cars allowed us to stick to the road and make fast progress rather than meander through fields. The landscape was open and hills gentler than in the last few days.
We stopped for lunch in Gallina.
The Via followed the river Formone for much of the afternoon. The path was rocky and we had to ford a number of small streams. It was punishing on the feet and were glad to get back onto a quiet road for the last climb into Radicofani.
The village sits below the castle and is small and compact. It seems less touristy than other villages with shops serving locals rather than visitors.
Casa del Ciliegio
A small b&b with an interesting and chatty host. The village is full of flowers and churches. We had supper in the bar on the square - the food was excellent and they even stamped our passports.
