Otters?!

A late start with a slow walk into the centre of Besancon and then sightseeing.

Today's date: 14.8.20

Weather: sunny and warm with showers

Steps: 20,550

Distance: 5.73 km

Climbing: 145 m

It rained as we walked into the city but the afternoon was nice. We had lunch in town and visited tourist info for stamps.

We caught the tourist train to the citadel above the city and then took a boat trip around the city on the river Doubs. The tour includes a passage in a canal under the citadel.

There was lots of wildlife to see from the boat including otters.

Besancon appears a prosperous and interesting place with a good range of museums and venues. There were lots of people out and about and this is one of the most attractive places we have visited in France.

Supper in a Brasserie in Rue Rivotte. The food for the last week has been much better.

Mercure Besancon Parc Micaud

A chain hotel - a bit dated but convenient and good value. An early start tomorrow as we have some serious walking to do.
