Rocky.

An easy day starting with a quick tour of Pontremoli before heading out.
Today's date: 21.9.20
Weather: cloudy with sunny intervals
Steps: 26,040
Distance: 18.03 km
Climbing: 98 m
Many pilgrims write nice things about Pontremoli, but we found it pretty, but not that exciting. The hostel was good and the bridges are interesting, but there's not a lot happening.
We headed out of town along the river valley and had lunch at a bar in Scorcetoli.
After lunch the via takes you up to the ridgeline above the valley. It was a steep climb and the path was full of loose rocks and small fords.
Progress was really slow as attention was required for every footstep. There were no other walkers but we passed a few small farms and flocks of black sheep.
Gredo Antica Dimora - Filetto
Filetto is a walled-village on the Via. It has a perfectly square layout with cobbled streets and tiny alleys. Our b&b is near the church and has both a suit of armour and a washing machine. For supper we had testaroli and pizza to give us energy for a long day tomorrow.
