Today's plan was to enjoy a gentle walk of around 20km along the north shore of Lac Leman.

We left the hotel and walked through a very quiet Lausanne. Breakfast was bircher and coffee before catching the bus out to Lutry.

Today's date: 23.8.20

Weather: sunny

Steps: 32,050

Distance: 21.1 km

Climbing: 262 m

The via initially runs along the lake then takes you up into the vineyards for a better view.

Every inch of the hillside is covered in vines and yet they still manage to squeeze in 2 railway lines and a road. The whole area is UNESCO protected as it is so beautiful and unique. There was a market by the lake in Lavaux.

There were dozens of walkers and hundreds of cyclists. Later in the day the cyclists were joined by lots of very expensive cars.

Later in the day the via descended to the lakeside again, with lots of small harbours and beaches.

The shoreline becomes much more urban around Vevey which is the headquarters of Nestle. We stopped for a sandwich and for supplies before the last few km to our campsite.

Camping Maladiere - Burier

A beautiful lakeside campsite. The facilities were a bit limited, with, for example just one power socket, but everyone was friendly and the view was spectacular. We set up and went for a swim.

We met another pilgrim, Noelle, who had walked from Eindhoven in Holland. We had supper together at the very good campsite restaurant.
