Crosses

Up at 6am to get the the stage done before it gets hot. We had a restless and disturbed night - the church bell rang every hour through the night - so we were like zombies as we set off.

Today's date: 2.8.20

Weather: sunny

Steps: 48,420

Distance: 23.36 km

Climbing: 184 m

The boulangerie was open so we grabbed some bread and water, but we were planning on a short 20k ish day so we didn't need much.

We walked along the Aube vally. There was a lot to see as the river runs through the gentle hills of the Foret d'Orient national park. There were clearings in the trees where vineyards were planted. There was some arable and dairy farming but much less in proportion and few vast fields.

We stopped in Dolancourt at a hotel (Le Moulin du Landion) who were happy to serve us coffee. It was a nice hotel and nice coffee. The village is really attractive with lots of grand houses. It also has a theme park. This means that residents can always hear people screaming.

We made good time and arrrived in Bar sur Aube at 12.30. There wasn't much happening in Bar sur Aube but that wasn't a problem as we were catching a train.

Ibis - Troyes

We are having a bit of time off-trail to give ourselves a break and catch up on some real-world tasks. We had a tasty chicken salad in the old town and checked-in. The town looks really interesting so we are looking forward to exploring.
