Berry-au-Bac
Today's stage is to Berry au Bac, but there is nowhere to stay there so we will walk off route to Guignicourt. We had a simple breakfast in the hotel before getting our pilgrim passports stamped and moving on.
Today's date: 22.7.20
Weather: sunny
Steps: 31,400
Distance: 21.57 km
Climbing: 105 m
The landscape was flat with really big fields and no shade. The walk wasn't particularly interesting but it was only a few hours to Berry au Bac.
The church at Juvincourt had a tap so we filled our water bottles. We met some friendly goats and as we left town there was a completely out of place water slide into a dried up pond.
We had lunch at a busy restaurant in Berry au Bac. It was a nice change from a roadside picnic and we got a couple of stamps. There are lots of reminders of WW1 here including an open air museum on the main road into town and an enormous cemetery.
We walked to Guignicourt along the Aisne canal. We passed under the Autoroute des Anglais for perhaps the 4th time.
The river was full of activity with lots of fish, fishermen, dragonflies of different colours and swans.
We stopped for a tea just before arriving at the campsite. Happiness indeed.

This seems to be a nice village with quite a few facilities. We will surely grab breakfast in the village before setting off tomorrow.
Camping au Bord de l'Aisne
A big and busy campsite with lots of facilities. We pitched yards from the river and will need to keep the insect repellent close. The bugs here are numerous and persistent.
There are 3 notable tents here -ours of course, a tent on a beetle and a tent that I saw a fridge inside. How do they do that - in a BMW saloon?
We showered then had pizza and salad at the bar for supper.
