Cold.

A nice short day walking on the hills above the lake. Many pilgrims combine the next two short-ish stages. We would rather take it easy, especially as we like the lakeside scenery.

We walked down the hill for a coffee and then to the lakeside promenade. It was a cold grey day and there was nobody in or on the water.

Today's date: 11.10.20

Weather: cold and windy

Steps: 26,488

Distance: 21.56 km

Climbing: 410 m

The wind was cold and we saw very few people all day. We passed some nice villas with views of the lake and climbed up and down paths that ran along the hills.

The path was mostly through woodland, with a few grazing sheep, vineyards and olive groves. We passed a man picking mushrooms.

We had lunch by the trail and we passed through no villages all day.

Late in the day we passed the '100 km to Rome' monument on the outskirts of Montefiascone. The approach into town is not pretty and not much was open on a cold Sunday afternoon. I took a picture of a car and a man offerred to sell it to me. I'm not sure he was the real owner.

The original centre of the town is slightly more attractive with tight streets below the church and castle.

Gli Arci - Montefiascone

An odd place. It seems to be a converted shop. It lacks sound insulation and our neighbours are loud. It is clean, cheap and warm and we are just here for one night so we will survive.

For supper we braved the cold and went out for a pizza - it was the nearest place - we're not really equipped for this weather.
